丙烯醛又称烯丙醛，是一种用途广泛的重要有机化工原料。目前主要用于动物饲料添加剂蛋氨酸的制备。合成丙烯醛的方法较多，有些因原料不具有广泛易得经济性较差，原料廉价易得的合成方法因没有性能较好的催化剂致使其选择性、收率不高等原因而未工业化。目前丙烯空气氧化法生产丙烯醛是主要方法。
