In this paper, the forming process of lightning, the specific hazards of lightning for transformer substation, and the main parts of the lightning protection in transformer su- bstation were briefly introduced. The design of grounding and lightning protection in substation were also probed. Based on this, several points of lightning protection design in transfo- rmer substation were put forward.
