This article through the introduction of the relation- nship between the Shanghai geological survey and the foun- dation pit supporting, embarking on the analysis of the char- acteristics and applicability of the several common foundation pit supporting types at present in Shanghai city. And through the introduction of practical cases, the author hoped to provide reference for the selection of foundation pit in Shanghai area.
