硒是人体生命必须的微量元素,具有抗衰老、防癌等显著功效.近年来,富硒农产品以其鲜明的形象和安全的品质成为新的消费潮流,受到消费者的欢迎.2011年,青海省第五地质矿产勘查院首次在青海省海东地区发现840多平方公里富硒土壤.据调查资料显示,海东地区平安县小峡镇、洪水泉乡、乐都县瞿昙、雨润、蒲台、芦花等乡镇富硒地区的硒含量平均0.44mg/kg,高于全国土壤背景值,达到足硒或中等富硒的水平.海东地区富硒区不仅面积大、地层较厚,还具有硒含量深度适中、易于开发利用等特点,为提高高原特色农产品经济价值提供了有利资源,成为青海省发展特色农业的绝佳条件.
