公共艺术设计与城市形象的塑造是相互依存又相对独立的两个概念。公共艺术是现代物质文化发展、社会精神文明进步的体现，城市形象则是历史文化和艺术的演变。公共艺术更偏向于外在的表现，城市形象更是历史文化内敛的体现。

The two concepts of the shaping of public art des-ign and city image are mutual y dependent and independent. Public art is the embodiment of the development of modern material culture and the progress of the social spiritual civili-zation. City image is the history of the evolution of culture and art. Public art tends to be in favor of the external performance and the city image is the introverted embodiment of the history and culture.
