Because of engineering construction, a town is planned to move to a new site in which the distribution of the quaternary overburden layer is larger and near which are the regional active faults, so the site is relatively complex in geo-logical structure conditions. This paper proposed to use geop-hysical shear wave test to obtain reliable data in the complex region to make an effective evaluation of the safety of the fo-undation.
