Open cut method and undercut method are the two methods commonly used in tunnel excavation engineering. In construction, the construction method should be chosen reasonably according to different geological conditions and engineering requirements. Combined with Huangdongpo tunnel under down-traversing S201 provincial road engineering, this paper discusses the construction scheme and technical main point of, and finally give prominence to the efficiency and feasibility of the undercut method through the comparison and analysis of the two methods in each working procedure.
