University library is an important component of the public cultural service. Based on introducing the research status of university library's reading promotion, this paper expounds the necessity for university library to carry out the reading promotion, analyzes some bottlenecks influencing university library's reading promotion service, and probes into the strategies for and development trends of carrying out the reading promotion by university library.
