The phosphorescence intensity of folic acid is stronger in acidic medium (340/450 nm) than that of in alkaline medium (390/520 nm). As the concentration of HCl increasing. the phosphorescence intensity become stronger, but very unstable on standing. The phosphorescence increases 20 times after UV irradiation in 0.1 mol/L HCl. The increment of phosphorescence intensity is proportional to the amount of folic acid in the solution, a phosphorimetric method for the determination of folic acid in mice liver was established.
